Feasibility Studies / Conceptual design

Conceptual design

The conceptual design also provides all details needed for investments and therefore is of great importance for financing your project.

For new applications, new production processes or start-ups it is required to assess the feasibility before starting production or up-scaling. Our team can offer feasibility studies, which may include literature searches and experiments (on lab-scale or in higher quantities) to estimate products yields, productivities, et cetera.

Pre-scan

The goal of this pré-scan is to deliver an estimation of the feasibility of the commercial production facility relating parameters like revenues, investments, costs, profit-lost, ROI, et cetera. For this scan, the following information is needed:

  • availability of biomass / residual stream (metric tonnes dry weight (DW) / year)
  • price of biomass / residual stream (€ / metric tonnes DW)
  • moisture content of biomass / residual stream (% of total weight (TW))
  • cellulose, hemi-cellulose, lignin content, other content of biomass / residual stream (% of DW)

Conceptual Design

plattegrond%20ospelAfter a succesfull pilot plant experimental phase, it is still a big step towards a full scale commercial production plant. Specifications need to be determined by an analysis of the local situation. Usually, a conceptual design study (including an analysis of the project details) needs to be performed. The goal of this study is to make a full assessment of the project (technology, logistic, finance, legislation, environmental aspects) in order to facilitate the development and the implementation of the project. The conceptual design also provides all details needed for investments and therefore is of great importance for financing your project.
